The Tolkien at Kalamazoo group has been approved for 3 paper sessions at the International Medieval Congress held at Kalamazoo, Michigan in May 2015. The paper sessions are:

  1. Tolkien’s Beowulf: This session will focus on the recent publication of Tolkien’s Beowulf translation by his son Christopher, how it relates to other Tolkien works, and its relation to Tolkien’s mythology.
  2. Tolkien and medieval Victorianism: This session will examine influences on Tolkien’s scholarship and mythology by Victorian writers, genres, and culture.
  3. Tolkien as linguist and medievalist: This session will focus on Tolkien’s linguistic and medieval influences as sources for his scholarship and the construction of his legendarium, as well as Tolkien’s own invented languages.

The deadline for submission of proposals for the paper sessions is September 1, 2014 to Dr. Brad Eden at If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Dr. Eden.
