CFPs: Kalamazoo and Star Trek, too

Here are some recent calls for papers (CFPs) that may be of interest to you:

Fantastic Cities: American Urban Spaces in Science Fiction & Fantasy – The editors of a new book on fictional urban environments are looking for chapter proposals. Abstracts of 500-800 words are due by July 15, 2015.

Science Fiction Film and Television – This journal is looking for papers to be submitted during it’s summer reading period. Also, they are working on a special issue for 2016 on “Star Trek at 50.” Links to the submission guidelines appear to be broken in the CFP, but you can get details from the journal’s submissions page. Proposals for the Star Trek issue are due by Sept. 1, 2015.

Tolkien Studies at Kalamazoo & Asterisk Tolkien at Kalamazoo – The annual International Congress on Medieval Studies has released its call for papers, and there are two calls for Tolkien-related topics. Those who are taking the fall Anglo-Saxon class may also want to browse through the full catalog of sessions for related topics. Proposals are due by Sept. 15, 2015.

Conference of the Popular and American Culture Association / Science Fiction & Fantasy Area – This Seattle conference is hosting special sessions on both Star Trek and “The Romance of Science Fiction Fantasy,” although papers may be submitted for other topics as well. Proposals are due by Oct. 1, 2015.

PopMatters Open Call for Features Submissions – PopMatters publishes articles and essays on all matters of pop culture. Several Mythgard students, faculty members, and friends have been published in PopMatters publications.
